About ACLAIM
Alliance for Clean Air in Music was founded with a simple mission: to protect the wellbeing of all music professionals via clean air advocacy.
Meet Our Founder

My name is Shelby Lock, and I’m an audio engineer, composer, and pianist. I have over 200 recording credits, own the Santa Cruz studio Silver Moon Sound, and have premiered my compositions at the Kennedy Center. But this isn’t the whole story…
In summer of 2019, I caught a simple virus while playing a piano gig, and my life changed forever. That virus caused an incurable neuroimmune disease that made me a wheelchair user and forced me to adapt and change my entire life and career.
Why ACLAIM?
When the lockdowns ended, and people resumed in-person events as normal, suddenly I could no longer participate in professional opportunities without risking additional damage to my immune system.
As I continued to connect with other musicians in online spaces, I found that many shared my concerns and were deeply worried about the health risks of gathering in crowded indoor spaces… People were just too afraid to openly admit it.
As I dove deeper and learned of the efficacy of air purification, ventilation, and Far UVC technology in preventing the spread of infection, I realized it wasn’t that we couldn’t do better at protecting music professionals as an industry. It was that we simply weren’t because most people aren’t aware this technology exists, nor how to obtain and implement it.
I founded ACLAIM so that we can all stop risking our health at every mixer, convention, party, and awards ceremony and instead focus on community and connection.
